When we went to the Fall Bash, we had a bonfire too… and there was what looked like a demon skull in the midst of it.

How you know it was a good party

  • The kids and dogs are all tired by 9PM (there were a dozen kids but 20 dogs, including 4 puppies!)
  • You can wander up to any group and be entertained
  • The drunk guys with beards are making s’mores by the bonfire
  • The “bonfire” consists of 8, 12-foot tree trunks about 18” across
  • The band doesn’t show up and nobody notices
  • The food is all gone.  I mean ALL gone.
  • You manage to stay out of EVERY picture
  • Your boss gets liquored up and wants everybody to recite the Pledge of Allegiance about 11 PM
  • The 10 seconds of silence after the Pledge is peppered with her dad saying, “What are we doin’? Are you done, Autumne?” and she says, “Shhh, Daddy, we’re havin’ 10 seconds of silence, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10.”
  • Somebody falls down (might be a bearded guy who ate s’mores on top of liquor)
  • Somebody pukes
  • Somebody is mad at his wife
  • The young guys all seem to have found a suitable young lady
  • The old guys are each talkin’ to a not-so-young lady
  • One AM seems like a good time to go to sleep but if you get up to go potty at 4AM you’ll still hear truck engines, laughter and guns up the hill.
  • The next morning, there are not enough biscuits and gravy in the world.

Home sweet home for 2 nights, the makings of tonight’s bonfire,and something about sleeping dogs…
