Wearing My Heart on My Feet sock in progress II… Front pattern
hamncheezr:1st finished Quarter of a Century sock. Think I can do the 2nd by Monday!
Way to go Des!!
I wanted to have this one done & blocking by the time I went to bed tonight but I only have the toe & instep done. Long way to go yet.
I have things I need to do but instead I’m sitting here with my butt going numb, going like this:
These are handknit house socks, very warm wool-blend worsted weight for a friend The cables on these form Xs and Ox for kisses & hugs… Unfortunately the non-skid spray, called Plastidip, is only available in red & black. Guess which one I happened to have on hand…

I have 2 pairs of socks on the needles (a 2nd sock for 1 pair & a 1st sock for another)
And a cowl, a gift for a friend.
But what I WANT to work on are the two shawls I need to knit for Spring.
I’m almost itching to do them.
What to do, what to do.
- Wearing socks during sex makes it easier to reach an orgasm
- 3% of women plan chores during sex
- Most people lose their virginity in June
- More women talk dirty during sex than men
- 200 calories are burned during a fierce sex session
- The average male thinks about sex every 52 seconds
- Sex is more effective than painkillers in relieving pain
- During sex pheromones are released, which may make you appear more attractive
the more you know… ;)

hamncheezr:My Mom made me RED heart picot edged socks of awesomeness for my bday
Love you, Des. And I’m glad you liked the socks, too.
I knit socks. I prefer toe-up because a lot of times (most times) I knit short socks, and I can use only a 50-gram ball, divided into 2 balls, and just knit each sock until the yarn runs out.
I use a provisional cast-on, short-row toe and a short-row heel with a mini gusset (about an 8stitch increase, 1 each end every other row) for 8 rows before I begin the heel, decreasing those stitches back off as I finish up the heel at the top..
There is a flawless sock size calculator, where you can put in measurements of your foot and your guage, do a little math (outlined for you), and always make the correct size of sock. Don’t be afraid of the math, doing it will save you a LOT of knitting and ripping out.
The provisional cast-on, short-row tutorial, and calculator are all available from knitty.com.
Don’t be afraid of DPNs. For toe-up, you cast 1/2 your sock stitches on one needle and work the toe cap, then divide the other half the stitches onto 2 needles for the sock front, leaving the original half of stitches on one needle for the heel. You just knit onto a free (4th) needle… when you free up the needle the stitches were on, then that needle is free and you use it to knit the next needle of stitches and so on, around and around.
Never hurts to learn something new…

Sock knitting. It’s small, unobtrusive and always appropriate, even in church
(not that *I’d* know…)
hamncheezr:My new red heels are a little tight thru the toes so I’m stretching them out.
G’night, tumblies…
